About Petina
Petina is a GCC and BCA registered chiropractor based in Deepcut near Camberley in Surrey, with over a decade of experience treating musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction in people ranging from teenagers, to those in their nineties. She has a special interest in helping people identify the root cause of their issue and in supporting them through recovery from pain and dysfunction to becoming stronger and more resilient.
Petina takes a whole-person approach to her work, she understands that we humans are more than a collection of bones, joints and muscles to be adjusted, this is why she allows longer than typical appointment times as standard, and will explore with you the lifestyle choices which may be perpetuating your issue, and support you in making changes which lead to you being a better you.
As well as being a qualified breath coach, Petina has completed specific post-graduate training in postpartum corrective exercise and is well placed to help you restore your strength and form post pregnancy.
Petina is always working to expand her knowledge and skill-set, ask her what her continuing professional development learning is about this year, she may have something new to offer you!
If you a currently suffering from pain or discomfort in your neck or back due to your occupational postures and activities, or you have stiffness in your joints due to age related changes such as osteoarthritis (OA), or are suffering from headaches, or even have a new (acute) pain in any of the joints of your arms or legs, Petina is able to examine and diagnose the problem and get you to the right place to get it seen to. She is usually able to treat you at the first visit, but sometimes more diagnostic information is required, in these instances she may recommend a scan such as ultrasound or MRI. Sometimes the diagnosis is something which is outside of her scope of practice, and at these times, Petina is able to refer you on to an appropriate healthcare provider.
Chiropractors are statutorily regulated primary healthcare professionals, specialising in issues arising from joints, muscles, fascia (a connective tissue) and nerves, who work in the private healthcare sector and in some NHS settings. To become a chiropractor requires undertaking a five-year full-time degree program where we learn medical diagnosis, radiography and radiology, as well as a thorough grounding in anatomy and physiology and biomechanics, along with the manual treatment skills associated with the profession. Chiropractors are primary care practitioners; which means they are able to diagnose conditions which they are able to treat, but also conditions which may sit outside of their scope of practice, and in these instances, would refer you to another healthcare professional.
About Peter
Peter is a qualified and registered chiropractor who is passionate about helping people better understand their bodies, manage their pain and return to the activities that are important to them. He believes that no two people are the same, and therefore their care should not be either. Peter takes an individualised and diverse approach to chiropractic care, adapting his assessment and treatment to the needs, goals and circumstances of each person.Peter has always held a strong interest in sport, movement and physical health. Growing up, he participated in rugby and athletics, which developed his appreciation for the importance of movement, strength and physical wellbeing from an early age. He continues to take an active approach to his own health and fitness, regularly training throughout the week. These core beliefs are what drives Peter to support others in staying active and pain free, whether that be competing in competitive sport on the weekend are simply having the capacity to complete everyday activities.Peter aims to understand how a person's symptoms are affecting their everyday life, work, hobbies and ability to stay active, and uses this information to develop an approach that is specific to their needs. Where appropriate, this may involve a combination of hands-on treatment, exercise, movement advice and education helping people understand their condition and giving them the tools and confidence to take an active role in their recovery.Peter also understands that seeking help for pain can sometimes be daunting, particularly when symptoms are affecting the activities or lifestyle that someone enjoys. He therefore aims to create a relaxed and approachable environment where patients feel listened to and involved in decisions about their care. His goal is to work collaboratively with each individual, helping them understand what may be contributing to their symptoms and what they can do to move forward.Outside of the clinic, the gym or the driving range Peter enjoys spending time with friends and family winding down with a light-hearted film or spending time cooking and experimenting in the kitchen.Peter looks forward to meeting you, understanding what is important to you and working together to help you achieve your individual health, movement and lifestyle goals.
